Enjoy magnificent scenery: from vast pampas to icy glaciers, through deep green rain forests, pristine rivers and gem colored lakes.. Exotic fauna: from whales, to penguins, to guanacos, fox and black neck swans. Drive in comfort, guided by experts, through remote routes, with the latest communication technology and road service. The Chile and Argentine Patagonia Routes: The National Parks of the end of the world! October 15 to November 19, 2005 - Includes: Campers ( Legere - Pampero - Patagonia Camper ), Hotel and tango dinner in Buenos Aires, Navigations to whales, glaciers, marbel caverns, ferry crossings to and from Chiloé, and to and from Tierra del Fuego. Camping areas, meals mentioned in the program (9); entrance to parks, hot water springs, and penguin colony, bilingual guides, special tours, museums and a variety of activities including fishing, horseback ridding and others; Whisky on glacier rocks, pisco sour and wine in various occations, VIP attention at all times. - Travel Itinerary Oct.15: Reception Airport B.A. Transfer to Hotel. Rest. Tango Dinner, a must in this cosmopolitan city! Oct. 16: City Tour B.A. Impossible to see it all in a few hours but an enjoyable quick visit before our journey into the wilderness. Transfer to airport, fly to Trelew. Reception at Trelew airport, receive vehicles and drive to Puerto Madryn, the Valdés Península, for camping in Peninsula Piramide. A sanctuary of wild marine life, where whales gather specially from July to October, to have their young, in the warmer Atlantic waters of this peninsula. Oct. 17: Whale and penguins watching day! Includes navigation to see the whales, and special lunch. Oct. 18: Start driving west, camping in the midst of the Southern Argentina Pampa, in our first Estancia. Our adventure begins... we start now our collection of stories and legends of places dreamed by so many. Oct. 19: North then West again, the first hills appear and with curve along lakes and terrain that bring us near the Great Antes... to the Nahuel Huapi lake that shores Bariloche. We camp in the midts of native woods, on the shores of this beautiful lake, and surrounded by mountains. Oct. 20: The great cross over of the Andes, The longest chain of mountains and tallest in the Western Hemisphere. Through anciente forest, and pristine rushing rivers that flow East, then West, empting into giant emerald and turquoise lakes. To beautiful Puyehue Lake, where we find Aguas Calientes Hot springs and make camp and relax , surrounded by gigantic ferns, crowned by snow capped mountains and volcanoes. With these hot springs we begin our fantastic tour of Lake District, Chile. Oct. 21 and 22: The spectacular views that surroundb will continue as we visit the Petrohue waterfalls, famous for their turquoise colored waters, in volcanic beds, walk through the native woods and end at a German Dairy Farm, for a typical once (tea time) with German pastries, home made breads, fresh milk, hot chocolate, coffee or tea. Continuing South we enter small Swiss-German-settled towns like the music garden town of Frutillar, Puerto Varas, and Ensenada, surrounding great Lake Llanquihue, that mirrors the Osorno Volcano-perfect cone, capped with eternal snows, with the Puntiagudo and Calbuco on the backround, making every turn of the road a delight. We camp at the Lake's shore, the Osorno Volcano will watch our sleep. Oct. 23 and 24: Only a few kilometers and we are at the gates of the Chile Patagonia, A birds eye view of the city of Puerto Montt and famous fish market of Angelmo. If you enjoy seafood, you will be delighted! Enjoy and learn fantastic stories of this over-500 year-old picturesque port. We continue towards the Pacific and take a ferry that will cross us to the Great Island of Chiloé. and its magic and mitical stories of fishermen and marmaids, and dine a typical Curanto, Just watching the way it's made becomes a unique and delicious experience! Seafood at its best. We camp in this magical island! Between the Chacao channel and the Pacific Ocean. The Andes here descend into the Ocean, giving us a most magnifiscent view. Oct. 25 to 30: Early start, we return towards the Andes, stoping in areas not visited on our previous days, and enter into famous and remote Carretera Austral of Chile: the road that embraces the fjords and cool rainforest and the frozen Andes...a magnificent mix of adventure that takes us into deep green, cool ancient forest, with flowing rivers and creeks filled with trout. Tall green mountains bursting with waterfalls everywhere, crowned with hanging glaciers of the broken Andes. We'll camp in small villages, and towns in some of the most privileged camping sites in the world await only for us! We will enjoy the Futa with our favorite activity, whether Fishing or white water rafting, trekking, bird watching or enjoying the deep green native forest, where you can barely see the trace of human touch. We will reach South all the way to Chile Chico and to the Lake Carrera that lays between Chile and Argentina. Oct. 31: Our adventure continues as we now take a small gravel road to cross over to Argentina... at this point both Chile and Argentina are on the East side of the Andes, since these have plunged into the Pacific Ocean forming the thousands of islands and fjords, water channels and legends of these latitudes; Los Antiguos is the small Estancia-town that offers us a tasty Gaucho style lamb roast. Nov. 1 to 6: We begin the equally beautifull and legendary Ruta 40 of Argentina, on the East foothills of the Andes. Gravel road with a mix of pampa and mountains; breathtaking scenery, and exotic fauna. We camp in small sierra towns, camping in legendary estancias, under big skies, open wilderness and stories of gauchos and bandits. We reach another Swiss dream town, on the foot of famous Fitz Roy Mountains: Chalten. Here we enjoy trecking, horseback ridding, bird watching, or just plain relaxing, enjoying and taking in the magnificent view. We end our Ruta 40 journey in the town of Calafate, at the shores of the Perito Moreno Glacier, where we camp and enjoy the view of the deep blue icebergs and the gigantic ice walls that tumble down into the blue waters of the enormous lake. Undoubtedly an unforgettable experience and sensation! Nov. 7 to 11: We cross into Chile, via the only back road of pampa gravel that remind us of the native tribes that inhabited these vast stepes, punished by the icy winds of the Antarctica. But our dry journey ends in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. The Torres del Paine National Park. Southernmost national park of our American Continent. World reserve. Indescribable beauty. Home of hundreds of Guanacos, the smaller Rhea, the Silver Fox, the Puma Lion and the Condor. This is where sky, snow, granite rock giants, colorful lakes, waterfalls and rivers, appear to come together in the most awesome ways, leaving the traveler simply enchanted! At the small city of Natales surrounded by snow covered mountains, on the shores of a waterway, we enjoy a day of navigation and dinner menu of King Crab. We leave our paradise, to cross the legendary stepes of the Chilean Pampa crossing sheep farms, stopping for a sheering show and a grand asado, Chilean Patagonia Style. To camp finally near the Southernmost City of the continent, at the shores of the Straights of Magellan, Punta Arenas. Nov. 13 to 15: We will cross the Straights of Magellan on a ferry that will takes of Tierra del Fuego.The large island at the end of the world. Full of legends, stories of adventure, and where you can still witness gold panning, like the gold fever days of old. We will drive thru Estancias, and enjoy stories the first settlers, camping in their land, entering this world apart of the rest, where the dry pampa is interrupted by snow covered mountains that appear to submerge from the icy gray waters of the Pacific Ocean, we cross lonely rivers, then enter Sub Antartic Lenga woods, to the beautiful small city of the very end of the island: Ushuaia, on the shores of famous Beagle Channel. We camp in the Tierra del Fuego National Park. We enjoy sailing the Beagel, trecking, walking these isolated shores and plan our return. All of the sudden we realize the roads end here....at the end of the world, and we can only take one route: back North. Nov. 16 to 19: We drive north, out of Tierra del Fuego and to Rio Gallegos, Taking Route 3, a long paved road along the Atlantic coast of Argentina, again crossing pampa and small oil towns, enjoying the last stories of the pioneers who settled in this remoteness, we understand how easy it was for the Cassidy Brothers to hide in these lands! Every day we encounter new stories and we advance slowly towards our starting city of Trelew, where we end our journey with beautiful memories and our adventurous spirits filled, leaving behind new friends and taking with us many stories and pictures to tell and show our friends at home
